Divine Healing can be described as Jesus Christ meeting you at your point of need. Just as the friends did the only (and the best) thing they could when they brought the paralytic and lowered him through the roof to Jesus feet in Mark 2:3-12 and Luke 5:18-25. We too can bring others in prayer and by faith lay them at Jesus feet, the outcome is up to God alone.
We believe that - " Jesus Christ the same yesterday and today and forever" Heb13:8
Jesus the fulfillment of prophecy in Matthew 8:16-17 When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses.
During His (Jesus) life on earth we are told in Mat 4:23,24 that " Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people. And His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought to Him all those being badly ill suffering various diseases and torments, and those who had been possessed with demons, and those who had been moonstruck, and paralytics. And He healed them".
Jesus commissioned the 12 disciples in Matthew 10:1, 8 "He called his twelve disciples to him and gave them authority to drive out evil spirits and to heal every disease and sickness. Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give."
Jesus commissioned the 72 disciples in Luke 10:1, 8-9 "After this the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them two by two ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go. “When you enter a town and are welcomed, eat what is set before you. Heal the sick who are there and tell them, ‘The kingdom of God is near you.’
Jesus commissioned all believers in Mark 16:15-18, KJV "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."
Jesus said in John 14:12 Truly, truly, I say to you, He who believes on Me, the works that I do he shall do also, and greater works than these he shall do, because I go to My Father. |
Does God Heal Today In Answer To Prayer? |
|
One of the first healings in the Bible was in answer to prayer in Genesis 20:17-18 Then Abraham prayed to God, and God healed Abimelech, his wife and his slave girls so they could have children again, for the LORD had closed up every womb in Abimelech’s household because of Abraham’s wife Sarah.
Moses prays for Miriam when she was leprous in Numbers 12:13 So Moses cried out to the LORD, “O God, please heal her!”
King David knew the power of prayer in Psalm 30:2 “O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me” (Psalm 30:2).
God says in Exodus 15:26 “If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”
Hezekiah knew the answer to prayer for healing in 2 Kings 20:1-5 In those days was Hezekiah sick unto death. And the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz came to him, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD, Set thine house in order; for thou shalt die, and not live. Then he turned his face to the wall, and prayed unto the LORD, saying, I beseech thee, O LORD, remember now how I have walked before thee in truth and with a perfect heart, and have done that which is good in thy sight. And Hezekiah wept sore. And it came to pass, afore Isaiah was gone out into the middle court, that the word of the LORD came to him, saying, Turn again, and tell Hezekiah the captain of my people, Thus saith the LORD, the God of David thy father, I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee: on the third day thou shalt go up unto the house of the LORD.
The Psalmist writes in Psalm 103:2-3 Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.
Is Jesus willing to heal, I believe so as in Mark 1:40-41 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.” Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
We are called to believe and to trust God for His outcome as in John 4:49-51 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die. Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way. And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
Unbelief has an effect as in Mar 6:5-6 And he (Jesus) could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his hands upon a few sick folk, and healed them. And he marvelled because of their unbelief. And he went round about the villages, teaching.
Ask in faith as in Jas 1:6-7 But let him ask in faith, doubting nothing. For he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, driven by the wind and tossed. For do not let that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord

I don't believe any of us have all the answers or that there is any set way to pray or limit to God's power and grace when it comes to how He answers prayer for healing , be it of body, mind or spirit. .We need to be mindful that God says in Isa 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says Jehovah. The Apostle Paul said in 1Co 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall fully know even as I also am fully known.
What we do know from previously mentioned Scriptures is that God is the Healer. In 1 Peter 2:24 He (Jesus) himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. Jesus ministry was one of Prayer and Healing and He commanded believers to carry on with what He had been doing.
One method for prayer is given in James 5:14-15 Is any one of you sick? He should call the elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up. This is an instruction to the Church but does this mean it is the only way and those who don't belong to a church are unable to recieve God's healing. I don't think so as Jesus healed ALL in Mat 4:24 And His fame went throughout all Syria. And they brought to Him all those being badly ill suffering various diseases and torments, and those who had been possessed with demons, and those who had been moonstruck, and paralytics. And He healed them.
In healing sometimes God uses medicines as with Hezekiah in 2 Kings 20:7 Then Isaiah [the prophet] said, “Prepare a poultice of figs.” They did so and applied it to the boil, and he recovered. Paul tells Timothy in 1 Timothy 5:23 “Stop drinking only water, and use a little wine because of your stomach and your frequent illnesses.” Jesus uses mud in John 9:6-7 Having said this, he spit on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the [blind] man’s eyes. “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam” (this word means Sent). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.
The word of God as in Proverbs 4:20-22 My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words. Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart; for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.
God used Peter's shadow in Acts 5:15-16, Insomuch that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. There came also a multitude out of the cities round about unto Jerusalem, bringing sick folks, and them which were vexed with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.
God used handkerchiefs in Acts 19:11-12 God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
God used the laying on of hands as in Acts9:17 And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
God used the faith of friends in Mark 2:3-12 Then they came to Him, bringing one who was paralyzed, who was carried by four. The Centurion exercised his faith on behalf of his son in Mat 8:8 The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof; but only speak the word, and my boy will be healed.
God used the persons faith as in Matthew 9:20-22, And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour Maththew 9:27 And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes were opened.
By faith in the name of Jesus as in Acts 3:16 By faith in the name of JESUS, this man whom you see and know was made strong. It is JESUS’ name and the faith that comes through HIM that has given this complete healing to him, as you can all see.
Having read the many ways our God of the Bible has used to heal, why is it that some leaders still want to put God in a box (their box) and say no God only heals our way or by a certain method, style or form of prayer while God says - Isa 55:8 For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor your ways My ways, says Jehovah.

The Elders as in Jas 5:14 Is any sick among you? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.
Any disciple of Jesus Christ such as Ananias in Acts 9:10-11, 17-18, And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street which is called Straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus.... [17] And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized.
Some believers who have a special annointing to heal as in 1 Corinthians 12:7-11, But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. |
| Why are some healed and others not, we simply do not know but we can be assured that God does |
|
Paul had his thorn in the flesh, Timothy his stomach disorder, both desired healing but accepted God's outcome.
What we do know is that we are called to pray and God always answers prayer but maybe not just how, when and as we expect, often God uses the skills and the gifts he has given to the Medical Profession. Don't be like the man caught in a flood and as the waters rose he climbed onto the roof of his house, as the waters rose even to roof level a canoe came along and offered to rescue him but he said no, God will save me, then a motorboat offered and he again said no God will rescue me, eventually as the waters rose higher a Helicopter came along but he refused it saying no God will save me. The man drowned and when he arrived before God he asked -I prayed for help, why did you not save me? God replied, I sent a canoe, then I sent a motorboat and finally I sent a Helicopter but you refused my help and so you drowned! Sadly some Christians have this attitude and don't recognise God's hand at work in their lives or are too busy to hear His voice.
ALL healing in prayer ministry is the work of God alone and all the glory belongs to Him as we of ourselves can do NOTHING.
